Product Information

All of our products are Gold Filled or Silver.

Gold filled jewelry is an alternative to solid gold jewelry, typically made by bonding a layer of 14k gold to a base metal, usually brass. This layer of gold is thicker than what is used in gold plating, making gold filled jewelry more durable and longer-lasting. It can last anywhere from 1 to 5 years under normal wear and tear, such as with rings, and even a lifetime for pieces worn occasionally. Gold filled jewelry is often preferred by those with sensitive skin, as it does not contain nickel, a common allergen found in some other metals.

Sterling silver, on the other hand, is a mixture of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. The addition of copper is necessary as pure silver is too soft for most jewelry applications. Sterling silver jewelry is hypoallergenic and generally well-tolerated by most people. However, it may tarnish or discolor over time, especially on individuals with high levels of acidity in their skin. Fortunately, sterling silver jewelry can be easily cleaned and polished to restore its shine.

To keep your jewelry looking its best, it's recommended to store it in a plastic bag when not in use to prevent tarnishing. Avoid exposing your jewelry to harsh chemicals found in household cleaning products, as well as chlorine in pools or spas, which can damage the metal. Additionally, it's best to remove jewelry before applying hairsprays, perfumes, or lotions, as these substances can also cause tarnishing or discoloration. Regular cleaning with products like Sunshine Cloths or Flitz Polish can help maintain the shine of your jewelry. While showering with your jewelry on is generally fine, it's advisable to remove certain pieces, like non-pierced cuffs or ear jewelry, to prevent them from slipping off.
